Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 151st Edition
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby 151st Edition is a 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV), 1L bottling of the classic Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in a commemorative bottle for the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby (Saturday, May 3, 2025) — featuring "Carrera Dinamica" ("Dynamic Race") by Cuban-born Louisville artist Humberto Lahera, vibrant with the colors and motion of the race. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Woodford Reserve is the Presenting Sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, and each year its Derby bottle pairs the Versailles, Kentucky distillery's bourbon with a commissioned artwork. Lahera — one of only eight students admitted to Cuba's El Alba Academy of Fine Arts, graduating cum laude before relocating to the US in 2022 — blends classical technique with contemporary energy; Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall notes that his rich colors and movement perfectly capture the excitement and tradition of the Derby.
Tasting profile (Woodford Reserve): clean, brilliant honey amber; rich dried fruit with mint, oranges and a dusting of cocoa on the nose; rich, chewy and rounded with citrus, cinnamon, cocoa, toffee, caramel and chocolate on the palate; a silky, creamy finish with a long, warm tail. Serving note: sip neat on Derby Day or build a classic Mint Julep; the 1L commemorative bottle is also a keepsake for Derby collectors.
