The Prohibition Legend Behind the Name
The brand tells its story as legend: more than 150 years ago in the Canadian border town of Thunder Bay, smugglers moving whisky across Lake Superior during Prohibition faced US border patrols working with specially trained female dogs — the "bitches" — that could sniff out hidden whisky. The runners buried their bottles in stacks of cinnamon and chili to throw the dogs off the scent, and the spiced whisky that resulted took the name Thunder Bitch in the dogs' honor. However the recipe really came together, the formula is the one on the label today: Canadian whisky, cinnamon and chili, bottled by Spanish producer Zamora Company and launched in the US in February 2024 at Guy Fieri's Flavortown Tailgate in Las Vegas. Tasting Notes
Per the producer: a soft, clean aroma of natural cinnamon with vanilla notes over the whisky base, then a palate that is spicy but well balanced, the chili heat carried on cinnamon sweetness and a smooth liqueur texture.
How to Enjoy
The producer's serve is simple: a very cold shot, straight from the freezer. The cinnamon-chili build also works as a fiery modifier in a whisky sour or a Mexican-coffee style serve — but the shot is what it was made for.
