A Symphony of Time from the Foot of Mt. Fuji

Tenjaku takes its name from the Japanese characters for the skylark — the herald of spring, and the brand's symbol of a clear, pure, mellow flavour. The whisky is made in Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture, in the Kofu Basin overlooking Mt. Fuji, where Master Blender Kenji Watanabe builds each expression from carefully selected malt whiskies and the region's pure spring water, drawn 250 metres below the Misaka mountain range and filtered through volcanic rock. For this limited edition, malts aged 3, 5, 8 and 12 years are blended in harmony — a symphony of time — and sherry casks add the top note. Tasting Notes

Vibrant amber with a subtle reddish tint from the sherry casks. The brand's notes: a rich aroma of ripe fruit, perfectly balanced with delicate malt; a velvety palate where rich malt meets the plump sweetness of sherry; and a deep, long finish where fruit and soft cask notes harmonise.

How to Enjoy

Neat to see the full sherry influence, with a splash of water, over ice, or lengthened into a highball — the serves the brand itself recommends for Tenjaku Pure Malt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tenjaku Sherry Cask a 12-year-old whisky? No. Twelve years is the oldest component in the blend; the blend also contains 3-, 5- and 8-year malt whiskies, so it carries no single 12-year age statement.

Is Tenjaku Pure Malt a single malt? No — "pure malt" means it is blended entirely from malt whiskies, with no grain whisky in the mix.

Where is Tenjaku whisky made? In Fuefuki, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, overlooking Mt. Fuji, by Minami Alps Wine and Beverage, using spring water drawn 250 metres below the Misaka mountain range.

What is the alcohol content? 43% ABV (86 proof), in a 700mL bottle.
