Siete Leguas Blanco Tequila Still Strength
Siete Leguas Blanco Tequila Still Strength is a 47% ABV (94 proof), 700mL unaged blanco tequila bottled at still strength by Casa Siete Leguas (NOM 1120) in Atotonilco El Alto, in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It is made from 100% Blue Weber agave and is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Siete Leguas has been family-owned since 1952, when it began at Fábrica El Centenario; today it blends tequila from two distilleries about 150 yards apart — El Centenario (1952) and La Vencedora (1984). The agave is slow-cooked in stone/brick ovens and crushed by a blend of mule-drawn tahona and roller mill, open-air fermented and double-distilled in copper pot stills. Bottled without dilution to standard proof, the Still Strength preserves the full body, natural oils and aromatic intensity straight off the still.
Tasting profile: intense cooked agave, citrus peel, mineral and cracked black pepper on the nose; rich agave sweetness with lime zest, earth, herbal notes and warm spice on a dense, oily palate; a long, warming, peppery finish. Serving note: a purist's sipper — enjoy neat or with a few drops of water to open up the agave; it also stands up beautifully in a high-proof Margarita or Paloma.
