Seelbach's Private Reserve 8 Year Old Cask Strength Bourbon Whiskey Batch 1 is the debut of Seelbach's independent-bottler reserve line: an 8-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, uncut and unfinished at 118.3 proof (59.15% ABV), 750mL, non-chill-filtered — and it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Seelbach's Spirits — an independent bottler built around unlocking craft spirits — launched Private Reserve with a mature barrel-proof bourbon at an accessible price. The blend marries two high-rye bourbons from two Bardstown, Kentucky distilleries (identities not disclosed): 60% corn / 36% rye / 4% malted barley and 74% corn / 21% rye / 4% malted barley. No secondary finish, no chill filtration — eight years in new charred oak, bottled in Jacksonville, Florida. Batch 1 ran to approximately 1,300 bottles.

Tasting notes (per the bottler): big and bold, packed with spice — toasted coconut, spicy plums, pecans, and black pepper on the nose; toasted coconut, spicy plums, toffee, black tea, cloves, dried fig, and custard on the palate; toasted almonds, peach sun tea, long cedar box, and aged tobacco on the finish.

Why buy Batch 1? Because it is mature, cask-strength, high-rye Kentucky bourbon from an independent bottler's debut reserve release — serious whiskey without the luxury markup. Browse the Seelbach's brand collection, more bourbon, and other American whisky.

Serving note: add water to taste at 118.3 proof; the high-rye spice opens beautifully with a few drops.
