Two Casks in the Himalayan Foothills
Radico Khaitan's Rampur distillery has made whisky since 1943 and malt for its blends for decades, but only released single malt to the world in 2016. The Double Cask is the richer follow-up expression: the malt divides its maturation between American bourbon barrels and European oak sherry casks — two-thirds in bourbon, one-third in sherry by the brand's stated method — and the two are married before bottling, un-chill-filtered, in a climate whose seasonal swings work the wood far harder than Scotland's does. Tasting Notes
Nose: Full-bodied tropical fruit with smooth malt and oak from the two cask types (official notes). Palate: Sweet fruit carried on rich sherry, with balsamic vanilla from the bourbon side against caramel, dried dark fruit and spice from the sherry side. Finish: Long, lingering and generous.
How to Enjoy
