Padre Azul Anejo Tequila
Padre Azul Anejo Tequila is a 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL anejo aged 18 months in hand-selected ex-bourbon oak barrels at Tres Mujeres (NOM 1466) in Amatitan, Jalisco. The agave is 100% Blue Weber from the Jalisco lowlands, matured around eight years before harvest — and the bottle is part of the statement: hand-blown glass, a hand-woven leather jacket and a heavy sculpted-metal skull stopper honouring Dia de los Muertos. Yellow-amber and full-bodied, it smells of coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla and dried cherry, and finishes extremely long and smooth. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

An Austrian Fell for Mexico — and Its Agave
Padre Azul began when Austrian H.P. Eder — from a Tyrolean schnapps-distilling family — met his Mexican wife Adriana in Heidelberg and, with his father-in-law, set out to bring authentic premium tequila to Europe. The name plays on "que padre" — how fantastic — plus azul for blue agave. The result anchors our anejo tequila shelf, and the Padre Azul page carries the blanco and reposado in the same leather-and-skull dress.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Coffee, burnt caramel, vanilla, caramelised nuts, dried cherry and apricot. Palate: Vanilla, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon and dried fruits — complex yet balanced. Finish: Extremely long and smooth.
How to Enjoy
Serve neat at cool room temperature (the brand suggests about 18-20 C) and give it time — the coffee and caramelised-nut notes keep unfolding.
