Olmeca Altos Reposado Tequila is the oak-rested middle sibling of the highlands range — 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL, 100% Blue Weber agave from the Los Altos around Arandas, Jalisco, brick-oven cooked, part tahona-crushed, copper-pot distilled and rested six to eight months in ex-bourbon American oak barrels, pouring pale gold with citrus, vanilla and gentle wood. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Sweet Spot of the Range

Six to eight months is a deliberate address. It is long enough for the ex-bourbon barrels to round the Plata's green, peppery snap into vanilla and wood, and short enough that the highland agave — grown slow at altitude around Arandas by the Besant, Masso and Hernandez team — still leads the glass. That balance is why reposado is the working bartender's favourite Altos: it sips cleanly, and it has enough barrel character to hold a cocktail together. Compare the family in our reposado tequila selection, browse the full tequila range, or see the house on the Olmeca Altos vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet orange and grapefruit over cooked agave (brand notes). Palate: Vanilla and gentle wood with citrus and a fine tannin grip. Finish: Long and balanced, agave and oak in step.

How to Enjoy

Neat or over one large cube it drinks like a light, agave-first whiskey alternative. In cocktails it is the range's all-rounder: a Reposado Paloma, a Rosita, or a Margarita that wants a little vanilla under the lime.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is Olmeca Altos Reposado aged? Six to eight months in ex-bourbon American oak barrels — comfortably inside the reposado class's two-to-twelve-month window, per Pernod Ricard's own product data.

What is the difference between reposado and anejo Altos? Time in oak. The Reposado's six to eight months keeps citrus and fresh agave forward with a vanilla frame; the Anejo's longer rest moves it into dried fruit, almond and chocolate.

Is Altos a good cocktail tequila? It was literally designed by bartenders — founders Henry Besant and Dre Masso were London barmen — and the Reposado's balance of agave and oak is built for mixed drinks as much as for sipping.
