Maestro Dobel Diamante Reposado Tequila is the original cristalino — 40% ABV (80 proof), 750mL, a blend of Reposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo tequilas from a single family-owned estate in the volcanic lowlands of Jalisco, aged in new white oak barrels from the Balkan region and double-filtered to crystal clarity, bottled clear under a reposado classification. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Bottle That Invented Cristalino

In 2008 Juan Domingo Beckmann did something the category had never seen: he blended tequilas across three age classes — reposado, anejo and extra anejo, rested in new Eastern European white oak — and then filtered the blend until the colour was gone and the aged flavour stayed. Diamante, "diamond," was the world's first cristalino and the first multi-aged clear tequila, and every clear aged tequila since follows the template this bottle set. It pours like a blanco and drinks like an anejo, which is precisely the trick. Line it up against the house's golden Reposado in our tequila range, browse the reposado tequila shelf it is classified under, or visit the Maestro Dobel vendor page.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Mild oak with a touch of vanilla (current brand set). Palate: Citrus and prickly pear over the blend's aged depth — caramel, honey and nutty notes in the fuller sell-sheet profile. Finish: Smooth, crisp and clean.

How to Enjoy

Neat or over ice, where the paradox — clear in the glass, aged on the palate — lands best. It also builds a Cristalino Margarita that looks blanco-clean and tastes barrel-deep.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cristalino tequila? An aged tequila that has been filtered to remove its colour while keeping its flavour. Diamante created the style in 2008: a blend of reposado, anejo and extra anejo, double-filtered clear.

Why is it labelled a reposado if it contains extra anejo? Diamante is legally classified and sold as a reposado — that is its official class, even though the blend reaches into anejo and extra anejo stock.

Does filtering remove the flavour too? No — that is the point of the process. The filtration strips colour; the oak-aged character of the three components, the caramel, honey and vanilla depth, is meant to remain.
