One Cask, One Flag
The Flag Series was created for La Maison & Velier's fifth anniversary: a run of single-cask bottlings, each label carrying the origin country's flag pulled apart and reworked, and each rum bottled the Maison's way — cask strength, with no additives, colouring or filtration. This 2015 vintage is the US release, a single Worthy Park cask. Worthy Park is Jamaica's single-estate rum operation — cane grown, milled, fermented, pot-distilled and aged on the one estate in the Lluidas Vale — and its rums are the balanced, fruit-driven school of Jamaican pot still rather than the high-ester funk extreme. Splitting the ageing between the Jamaican tropics and a European warehouse gives it both early intensity and a long, slower polish.
Tasting Notes
Specialist-press tastings converge on lush tropical fruit — charred pineapple, banana and dried mango — with golden raisin, coconut and caramel over toasty barrel char. Full-bodied and fruity at cask strength, with a long, warming finish; a few drops of water open the fruit further.
How to Enjoy
Sip it neat or with a splash of water, the way single-cask rum is meant to be read. At 120.8 proof it also anchors a serious Mai Tai or rum old fashioned, but the neat pour is where the cask shows.
