Heaven's Door The Bootleg Series Volume VI
Heaven's Door The Bootleg Series Volume VI is a 92.8 proof (46.4% ABV), 700mL Tennessee wheated bourbon — 10 years in American oak plus 2 more years finished in nectarine brandy casks, 12 years in total — in a ceramic bottle bearing Bob Dylan's iron-gate-inspired artwork, "The Photographer Playa de Portillhon, Cadaques, 2010." It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
The Bootleg Series is Heaven's Door's annual ultra-limited canvas for Dylan's artwork and for cask finishes no core release would attempt. Volume VI turns to nectarine brandy: the wheated bourbon's soft, sweet core spends its final two years in brandy casks that held nectarine distillate, layering stone fruit over the vanilla and caramel of a decade in American oak. Around 4,200 bottles were made.
Tasting profile (official): honeyed nectarine and brûléed peach open the glass, balanced with vanilla bean and buttery caramel; cinnamon spice and baked stone fruit unfold into a warm, lingering finish of toasted oak and dried apricot. Serving note: pour neat in a tulip glass; this is a contemplative, after-dinner bourbon — let the stone fruit build over a slow glass.
