Three Whiskeys, Two Barrels, One Dylan Brand
Heaven's Door was co-created by Bob Dylan with Marc Bushala and launched in 2018 with three core whiskeys — and the Double Barrel is the one built around a second maturation. After at least five years in new oak, the married bourbons and rye go into heavily charred "alligator char" barrels, whose deep, cracked char layer darkens the colour and layers in toasted vanilla depth — a finish the brand credits for the smoothness that let it raise the bottling proof to 100. Tasting Notes
Per the producer's current notes: a nose of maple and milled grain with light nuttiness, dried berries, vanilla custard and toasted oak; a palate of caramel and dough with dark cherry and Meyer lemon, then dry oak, vanilla bean and dried apricot; and coconut, orange oil and cocoa with woody overtones toward the finish. F. Paul Pacult gave it his Highest Recommendation.
