A Bourbon Built Backwards From the Seed
Grain to Glass began more than eight years before its 2024 launch as the brainchild of Heaven Hill Executive Chairman Max Shapira, built on transparency from seed to aged liquid. Each year Master Distiller Conor O'Driscoll works with Beck's Hybrids — the Indiana family seed company founded in 1937 — to hand-select a corn seed varietal for Central Kentucky conditions, and Peterson Farms grows it in Nelson County, one of its two sites sitting directly across the street from the Bardstown facility. For the First Edition, Beck's 6158 went into a mash bill that deliberately breaks with house tradition: 52% corn, 35% rye, 13% malted barley, against the classic Heaven Hill bourbon recipe of 78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley — the Kentucky-grown grain and the rye spice drive the flavour. Tasting Notes
Heaven Hill's own notes: golden amber in colour; apples and pears with notes of fresh oak on the aroma; plentiful orchard fruit with bright floral and spice notes on the palate; and a finish of slight oaky sweetness with peppery spice — a distinctly high-rye, spice-forward pour next to classic Heaven Hill bourbon.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with a splash of water to open the orchard fruit, and a natural for a high-rye Old Fashioned or Manhattan where the spice has to hold its own against the other ingredients.

What proof is Grain to Glass Bourbon? 107 proof (53.5% ABV), bottled without chill filtration.
