Fid Street Hawaiian Gin
Fid Street Hawaiian Gin is a 90-proof (45% ABV) 750mL gin distilled on Maui by the Hali'imaile Distilling Company in Makawao — the first gin ever made on the island, and only the second in Hawaii since Prohibition. It bridges classic London Dry structure and American craft style with eleven botanicals, including Maui Gold pineapple and Maui-grown lavender, distilled in small batches in custom in-house glass stills and reduced with Hawaiian spring water. Awarded across 2024's major competitions, it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

From Fid Street to the Bottle
The name reaches back to 19th-century Honolulu, when sailors coming off the ships at the harbor asked for a "fid" — sailor slang for a drink — and Fid Street (today's lower Nu'uanu Avenue) was where they reveled. The gin inside is pure Maui: juniper-forward in the London Dry tradition, but lifted by island botanicals — Maui Gold pineapple, Maui-grown lavender — over a base of orange and lemon rinds, coriander, cardamom, fennel, grains of paradise, orris root, cedar leaf, and angelica. Distilled in custom glass stills and softened with Hawaiian spring water, it drinks clean and aromatic — fresh-cut florals, dancing citrus, a hint of forest air. Tasting Notes
Juniper-forward with a very clean, aromatic fresh-cut floral bouquet; citrus dancing on the nose; a hint of forest air. Official distillery notes.
How to Enjoy
In a gin and tonic with a big citrus twist to spotlight the pineapple and lavender, or in a dry martini for the full juniper-forward read. Over ice with soda and lime for something lighter.
