Chicken Cock Chanticleer Cognac Barrel Finish Bourbon Whiskey
Chicken Cock Chanticleer Cognac Barrel Finish Bourbon Whiskey is a 112 proof (56% ABV), 750mL Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (70% corn, 21% rye, 9% malted barley) finished in fine French Cognac barrels — the Second Edition of Chicken Cock's Annual Tin Release, limited to 32 barrels and bottled in a Prohibition-era replica apothecary bottle sealed in a commemorative tin. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
"Chanticleer" — the rooster — is a shared French and American symbol, and this release celebrates the French-American friendship that runs back to the Revolutionary era: Bourbon County and Paris, Kentucky, where James A. Miller founded Chicken Cock in 1856, both carry French names. Master Distiller Gregg Snyder hand-selected the barrels, and the modern whiskies are produced with Bardstown Bourbon Company.
Tasting profile (distillery notes): a mahogany-leather pour with vibrant ripened peach, sweet cream and honey on the nose; tannic vanilla and cherry, softened plum, candied date and banana flambé on the palate; hot caramelised sugar, melted butter and fresh citrus zest on the finish. Serving note: enjoy neat, or with a splash of water to lift the Cognac fruit.
