Release 6 is the 2024 edition — the sixth Gray Label Bourbon — and it leans sweet and stately, the brashness of youth long since aged into layer after layer of sugar, grain and oak.
Tasting profile: pungent vanilla bean and goldenrod over dark brown sugar and sugarcane, tres leches cake, granola and macadamia nut, with sage, tonka bean, menthol, plump raisins and fig newtons; s'mores, amoretti and oatmeal raisin cookie on the palate with crystallized ginger, peppermint and black peppercorn; a finish of fresh ginger, fennel seed and cardamom resolving into cocoa powder, grapefruit peel and skillet cornbread — and with a splash of water, gooey chocolate ganache, coconut in every form, demerara rum, nutmeg and lime zest.
