Named for a Song, Brewed in San Diego County
Phantom Bride takes its name from the Deftones track on their 2016 album Gore — the song that features Jerry Cantrell on guitar — and it launched in October 2016, first on draft and in 22oz bottles, brewed in Vista and Oceanside. It has since become a continuing core collaboration between the band and Belching Beaver, founded in Vista in 2012 and now producing in Oceanside. The brewery's own serving suggestion is simple: sit back, put headphones on, and drink. Queue it up from our craft beer shelf, browse the full beer range, or see the brewery on the Belching Beaver vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Medium gold and lightly hazy. Nose: Pine and fresh citrus — lemon, orange and grapefruit — with melon sweetness over a bready-cracker malt base. Palate: Hop-forward and balanced, citrus-led and drinkable, with a faint malt sweetness and no obvious alcohol heat for its strength. Finish: Dry and resinous.
How to Enjoy
Drink it fresh and cold, the way a West Coast IPA wants to be drunk — ideally, per the brewery, with the album on. Its citrus-and-pine profile stands up to spicy food, burgers and sharp cheddar.
