Torabhaig Taigh Single Malt Scotch Whisky — pronounced "tie," Gaelic for "house" — is a 46% ABV (92 proof), 750mL Isle of Skye single malt — the first permanent core expression from the Torabhaig distillery, matured in first-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks with a touch of ex-Madeira, non-chill filtered and natural colour — available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Torabhaig is the Isle of Skye's second distillery — founded in 2016 by Mossburn Distillers in restored 19th-century farm buildings on the Sleat Peninsula, distilling since January 2017. Until now it lived on its limited Legacy Series (Allt Gleann, Cnoc Na Mòine, Sound of Sleat); Taigh is the pivot to permanence — a small-batch, evergreen single malt that defines the distillery's house style. That philosophy is "Smoke with Taste": the barley is peated to 55–60ppm, but the peat seasons the dram rather than bulldozing it — gentle, maritime, elegant smoke. First-fill bourbon barrels give the signature vanilla, sweet spice, and honey; refill bourbon lets the distillery character shine; a little Madeira-cask influence adds softening roundness and fruit depth. Whisky maker Neil MacLeod Mathieson bottled it at a healthy 46% with no chill filtration and no added colour. To mark the launch, the distillery commissioned original poems from Scottish poet Iona Lee, with label artwork by local artist Aileen Grant.

Tasting notes (press and trade consensus): gentle hearth smoke with sea tones, baked apple, maple syrup, raisins, and cinnamon on the nose; a palate of vanilla custard, vanilla cream, roasted and toasted almonds, sweet dried fruits, and warming spices over subtle smoke; a soft, lingering finish.

Why buy: The bottle that defines Torabhaig going forward — the first evergreen Skye malt, and a genuinely new way to drink peat: smoke as seasoning, not assault. Equally at home neat, with a drop of water, or next to your Talisker. Explore more Torabhaig, browse more scotch whisky, and compare other whiskey at Del Mesa Liquor.

FAQ — people also ask:

Q: What does "Taigh" mean?
A: "Taigh" (pronounced "tie") is Scottish Gaelic for "house" — a nod to the restored 19th-century steading that holds Torabhaig's stills, and to the whisky as the heart of the distillery.

Q: What is the ABV of Torabhaig Taigh?
A: 46% ABV (92 proof), in a 750mL bottle — non-chill filtered and natural colour.

Q: What casks are used for Torabhaig Taigh?
A: First-fill and refill ex-bourbon casks, plus a small parcel of ex-Madeira casks for added fruit depth and roundness — not sherry.

Q: Is Torabhaig Taigh peated?
A: Yes — but gently. Torabhaig's "Smoke with Taste" philosophy means the 55–60ppm peat seasons the dram with elegant, maritime smoke rather than dominating it. Available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.
