Austria's Signature Grape, Méthode Traditionnelle

Most of the world's Grüner Veltliner never leaves Austria, and most of Austria's best Sekt starts in Vienna's 19th district, where Robert Alwin Schlumberger founded his cellars in 1842. This brut spends a full year on its lees in bottle — the classic Champagne method, applied to Lower Austrian Grüner — emerging with the grape's telltale white pepper and green apple lifted by fine, persistent bubbles. Schlumberger's Grüner Veltliner brut is the sparkling wine for drinkers who find Champagne predictable and Prosecco thin.

Tasting Notes

Pear, green apple, lime, and white pepper on the nose with delicate autolytic brioche notes. The palate is dry, fresh, and animating — orchard fruit and zesty citrus over a fine mousse — finishing long, peppery, and remarkably refreshing.

How to Enjoy

Serve well chilled at 8–10°C in a flute or white-wine glass. Made for sushi, fresh asparagus, mild creamy cheeses, and light Asian dishes — or simply as an aperitif.

A Christmas gift.

My parents loved it! They visited the winery when they were in Austria, and mentioned how much they liked the wine. It’s kind of hard to find, here, but I finally found it at Del Mesa. This is the 2nd year I’ve purchased it for them.
