Cider Barrels, Bourbon Barrels, and Patience
The Madera collection is Nosotros's playground for barrel experimentation, and this second release is the boldest yet. Instead of empty, dried oak, the añejo rests for 20 months in wet barrels — casks that went straight from holding 2 Towns Ciderhouse's 'Bad Apple' cider batch and Woodford Reserve Bourbon into receiving agave spirit. The result is an añejo that picks up cider's orchard-fruit brightness and bourbon's vanilla depth on top of the cooked-agave core. Founder Carlos Soto's brand works the Madera line with Maestra Tequillera Citlali Ovalde, one of Jalisco's first female master distillers, and each of the 1,500 bottles is individually numbered.
