Meiomi Red Blend
Meiomi Red Blend is the multi-varietal expression of Meiomi's coastal-California house style: a rich, fruit-forward red wine blended from three of California's most noteworthy coastal appellations — Sonoma, Monterey, and Santa Barbara counties. Bottled at approximately 13.7% ABV (verify vintage label), 750mL — available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
Meiomi (pronounced may-OH-mee) means "coast" in the language of the native, coastal-dwelling Wappo and Yuki tribes. Founded in 2006 by winemaker Joseph Wagner of the Caymus Wagner family and acquired by Constellation Brands in 2015, the brand unifies cool-marine-influenced fruit into bold-but-balanced wines. The Red Blend draws from Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon — the exact mix shifts by vintage (the 2021 was Syrah, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon) — with French-oak aging to integrate the house richness.
Tasting notes (per the brand infosheet): lush, expressive aromas of jammy dark fruit and toasty oak; big, ripe flavors of juicy blackberries, currants, black and red cherries, strawberries, dark-roast mocha, and sweet vanilla. A rich, plush mouthfeel leads to a long, lingering finish. Reviewers note velvety cherry jam, cocoa, and red berries — medium to full body, soft and approachable.
Why buy this wine? Because it delivers the bold-fruit, French-oak comfort of a premium California red blend at a weeknight price — no cellaring required, ready to enjoy on release. Browse the Meiomi brand collection, more red wines, and other fine wines.
Serving note: serve at cellar temperature; decanting 20–30 minutes opens the jammy aromatics. Pairs with grilled steak, roasted lamb, mushroom risotto, aged cheddar, and dark chocolate.
