Two Centuries of Senne Valley Lambic
The Lindemans family has brewed lambic on its Vlezenbeek farm since 1822, in the Pajottenland southwest of Brussels — the one valley where wort left to cool overnight reliably picks up the wild yeasts, Brettanomyces among them, that ferment true lambic with no cultured yeast added. Framboise, the raspberry lambic the brewery introduced in 1980, layers fresh raspberry character over that gently sour base and has become the world's gateway fruit lambic. Find it in our craft beer range, browse our sours and lambics, or visit the Lindeman's vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Deep pink with a pink foam, per the brewery. Palate: Sweet yet tart fresh-raspberry flavour first, followed by a gentle lambic sourness. Character: Fruity and fresh, elegant and lightly sparkling, per the brewery's description.
How to Enjoy
Serve cold in a flute or stemmed glass as an aperitif — or pour it at the end of the meal with chocolate desserts and berry tarts, where its sweet-tart balance works like a sorbet. At 2.5% ABV it is a genuine session pour.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a lambic? A beer fermented spontaneously by wild airborne yeast rather than cultured yeast — a method Lindemans has practised in Belgium's Senne valley since 1822, maturing the beer before raspberries are added for Framboise.
How strong is Framboise? Just 2.5% ABV, per the brewery — one of the lightest beers we sell, and easy-drinking by design.
Is it sweet or sour? Both, in sequence: the brewery describes sweet-tart fresh raspberry up front, then a soft lambic sourness underneath — far gentler than a modern kettle sour.
