Kentucky Peerless Toasted Rye Whiskey Batch 2 is Louisville's grain-to-bottle distillery doing toasted rye the hard way: a barrel-proof sweet-mash rye at about 109 proof (54.5% ABV) in this 750mL bottle — and it is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. (DSP-KY-50, revived 2015) never sources a drop — every barrel is distilled, aged, and bottled in Louisville. This rye starts in char level 3 new American oak, then finishes in a second, custom medium-toast barrel (not charred) from Kelvin Cooperage — toasted wood that adds honey, vanilla, toasted spice, and chocolate without heavy tannins. Batch 1 arrived in March 2025; Batch 2 rolled out July 12, 2025. It's bottled at barrel proof with no water added and no chill filtration, and the mash is strictly sweet mash (fresh grain and yeast, no backset).

Distillery-issued tasting notes: toasted honeysuckle ice cream, soft floral nectar, blackberry jam, and candied orange peel; aromas of vanilla pudding, banana bread, cinnamon, and clove.

Why buy Batch 2? Because toasted-barrel finishes on true barrel-proof, sweet-mash rye are rare — and Peerless's grain-to-bottle control means the whole thing was built for this exact purpose. Explore the rye whiskey collection, the Peerless brand collection, and all whisky.

Serving note: neat in a Glencairn first; a few drops of water open the vanilla and honey notes.

What proof is Batch 2? About 109 proof — bottled at barrel proof with no water added, and the exact number varies batch to batch (Batch 1 was 109.4).

What does "toasted rye" mean here? After primary aging in charred new oak, the rye finishes in a custom medium-toast (not charred) barrel from Kelvin Cooperage.

Is there an age statement? No — this is a no-age-statement release.

Where is it made? Louisville, Kentucky — distilled, aged, and bottled at Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co. (DSP-KY-50); never sourced.
