The First Whisky to Carry the King Car Name
Kavalan's story starts with Taiwan's 2002 WTO entry, which opened private distilling for the first time — the distillery was built in just nine months in 2005 under Master Blender Ian Chang with consultant Dr. Jim Swan, running Forsyths copper pot stills. The subtropical climate does the rest: heat that would be a curse in Scotland becomes an engine here, maturing whisky fast and layering tropical fruit over the malt. Conductor, part of Kavalan's Reverence Series, was created to embody the whole King Car group — and the WWA 2023 judges found "rich, creamy, nutty notes of hazelnut and coffee beans" with a banana-bread nose.
