Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate Batch #2 is a spirit crafted from our own Cadboll Estate barley, grown only in the fields surrounding our Highland home, and distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills. It is aged in hand-selected, first-fill American White Oak ex-bourbon casks to create a single-estate whisky of oaky depths and rounded smoothness.

Glenmorangie is a coastal distillery meaning the local land where the barley is grown is protected from hard inland frosts and extremes of weather and is essentially in its own microclimate. In these conditions, every harvest is unique and brings subtle flavor differences to each batch of The Cadboll Estate.

Only enough barley can be harvested from the estate each year for one or two weeks of production at the Distillery, making this single-estate crop particularly precious.

Another winner from Glenmorangie!

My prior tasting notes was from the original (i.e. Batch 1). These are my tasting notes for Batch 2: Glenmorangie is one of my all-time favorite scotch families. They released their second batch of The Cadboll Estate, using barley grown directly there on the estate. It opens with light, fresh pears, peaches, and apricots, followed by vanilla, milk chocolate, cinnamon, spicy ginger, and zesty lemon – late in the palate, orange peels and eucalyptus or menthol join the flavor chorus. It has a full, creamy mouthfeel – a very smooth dram. The legs are nice, delivering a long orange-peel and eucalyptus finish, with some hints of milk chocolate drizzled with honey handing-around on the edges. Another winner from Glenmorangie! Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.

Peanut brittle and honey

I just came across this new limited-release from Glenmorangie. The nose is definitely peanut brittle and honey. The palate is a cornucopia of flavors: honey, butter candy (almost butterscotch), apricots, pears, and more. The finish is quite long. I strongly recommend grabbing a bottle, while they last. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
