Enegren Lagertha Lager
Enegren Lagertha is a hoppy pilsner — 5% ABV, 45 IBU — brewed in Moorpark, California, and sold here as a 6-pack of 12oz cans. Enegren's take on a classic Czech-style pilsner pairs traditional European ingredients (noble Saaz hops, German pilsner malt) with an American twist: a Mosaic dry-hop that lifts the crisp lager with citrus and fruit. Despite the shelf it may sit on, this is a true lager, not an ale. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

A Czech Pilsner With a California Hop Accent
Enegren is the lager specialist of Ventura County: founded in Moorpark in 2010 by brothers Chris and Matt Enegren with Joe Nascenzi out of a Loyola Marymount dorm-room homebrew habit, the brewery built its name on German-inspired, lager-first brewing. Lagertha — named for the legendary Viking shieldmaiden — is one of its six year-round beers, and the one aimed at IPA drinkers: a classic Czech-style pilsner, crisp and honey-biscuit malty, then dry-hopped with Mosaic for a big citrusy nose a traditional pils never had. Browse more California cans in our beer and craft beer collections, or on the Enegren vendor page.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Large citrusy Mosaic aroma over light biscuit malt. Palate: Crisp, light and complex — hop-forward citrus and fruity flavours, hints of honey and biscuit, a clean pilsner snap underneath. Finish: Slight, pleasant bitterness and dry.
How to Enjoy
Serve cold in a pilsner glass or straight from the can; it is built for fish tacos, grilled sausages and any long afternoon that starts with one beer and continues.
