Solera Depth From Virgin Cane Honey
Dictador starts where most rum does not: virgin sugar cane honey, the concentrated first press of the cane, fermented and split between copper alembic and steel column distillation for a medium-to-full body. The solera then does the slow work — older casks topped with younger rum and never fully emptied, so the blend's average age reaches 20 years. Tasting Notes
Per the producer: an intense dark amber colour; soft caramel, vanilla, smoky honey, toffee, dry seeds, and roasted coffee on the nose over rounded oak; a soft, round, full-flavoured palate of caramel, vanilla, cocoa, and roasted honey with a long finish.
How to Enjoy
A sipping rum — pour it neat or with a single cube and let the coffee and cocoa build. The younger 12 Years solera is also in our rum collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does "20 Years" mean on a solera rum?
It is the blend's average age, not a minimum: the solera combines rums from 14 to 24 years old, averaging 20. In a solera, no cask is ever fully emptied, so ages are expressed as averages.
Is Dictador made from molasses?
No — it is made from virgin sugar cane honey, the first-press cane juice, which gives a different fermentation base from molasses rums.
Why use two kinds of still?
Copper alembic distillation brings heavier character and the steel column brings cleaner spirit; blending the two balances the rum.
