Creyente Cuishe Mezcal is an 80-proof (40% ABV) 750mL joven mezcal from Oaxaca, Mexico — a single-varietal expression of wild Cuishe agave (Agave karwinskii), a tall, slow-growing wild agave that can take up to twelve years to mature. Cooked in conical stone pit ovens, fermented naturally in wooden vats, and double distilled in a copper alembic, it is the leaner, greener counterpoint to the standard Creyente Joven blend. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.

Cuishe, the Wild Tower of Oaxaca

Cuishe grows tall and slow in Oaxaca's wild lands — a karwinskii-family agave that can need a dozen years before it is ready for the oven — and Creyente's single-varietal bottling lets that patience speak. Where the standard Creyente Joven blends Espadín and Cuishe for roundness, this is all Cuishe: herbaceous, vegetal, and mineral, made the traditional way with wood-fired pit ovens, wild fermentation, and double distillation in copper. Explore the Creyente collection and more single-agave mezcals at Del Mesa.

Tasting Notes

Green and lean — green pineapple and pear, grilled vegetables and smoky earthiness, a charcoal-kissed finish. More herbaceous and wild than the blended Joven.

How to Enjoy

Neat in a copita at room temperature; a splash of water opens the vegetal aromatics for the curious.

Frequently Asked Questions

What agave is Cuishe?
Cuishe is Agave karwinskii — a wild Oaxacan agave in the karwinskii family (with barril, madrecuishe, and tobasiche) that takes up to about 12 years to mature.

Is Creyente Cuishe aged?
No — it is a joven (unaged) mezcal, bottled clear after double distillation.

How does Cuishe differ from Creyente's standard Joven?
The standard Joven is an Espadín + Cuishe blend; Cuishe is a single-varietal expression of wild karwinskii only — leaner, greener, more herbaceous.
