The Blue Jaguar, Unaged
The blanco is where the Chaquira set starts: the NOM 1438 house production — Blue Weber agave cooked in brick ovens and autoclaves, roller-milled, fermented with deep well water in stainless steel and double distilled in a stainless pot — with no oak at all, so the citrus and pepper of the agave arrive untouched. Around it, the presentation the brand is named for: a jaguar head covered by hand in chaquira beads in the Wixarika tradition of northern Jalisco and Nayarit, set in wax and resin, the blanco's beading running in blues. Handle with care — the beads are adhered, not welded, and can loosen. The rested siblings are on the Chaquira vendor page and in our tequila collection.
Tasting Notes
Per the brand's distributor sheet: a fresh, crisp profile — crisp fresh citrus on the aroma; grapefruit, lemon and pineapple on the palate with hints of sweet agave and pepper; and a soft, crisp, fresh finish.
How to Enjoy
A Paloma shows off the grapefruit-and-citrus register best, and it pours bright and clean neat for blanco purists. More blancos are in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Chaquira Blanco aged?
No — it is an unaged, clear blanco. Agave Matchmaker lists no aging for the expression, and any retailer copy describing it as oaked or smoky is a copy error, not a spec.
Why does the Chaquira Blanco bottle look different from the aged bottles?
Every Chaquira bottle is a jaguar head beaded by hand, so patterns are unique to each bottle; retailer accounts describe the blanco's beading in blue hues, the reposado in green, the anejo in warm reds and oranges, and the extra anejo in rainbow colours.
Where is Chaquira Blanco made?
Agave Matchmaker lists the brand at NOM 1438, Destiladora del Valle de Tequila (Casa Maestri), Tequila, Jalisco — 100% Weber agave, stainless-steel fermented and double distilled.
