Cazadores Reposado Tequila is a 750mL reposado bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), made from 100% Blue Weber agave in Arandas, in the Highlands of Jalisco, and rested in new American oak — over two months and up to a year, per the producer. The producer calls this the original Tequila Cazadores: agave and wood in balance, with citrus, tropical fruit and vanilla over the house's smooth finish. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

The Original Cazadores

The reposado is where the Cazadores recipe started: Don Jose Maria Banuelos perfected it in Arandas in 1922, and the family kept it secret until his grandson built the first commercial distillery in the 1970s. The method is distinctive — juice extracted by diffuser rather than cooked first, a two-stage stainless-steel fermentation with proprietary yeast and classical music playing in the tank room, then double distillation in pot stills with copper in the vapour path. A rest in new, small American oak casks rounds the agave without burying it. Browse the blanco and anejo siblings on the Cazadores vendor page and in our tequila collection.

Tasting Notes

Per the producer's official notes: a balance of agave and woody flavours — citrus and tropical fruits up front, vanilla from the new oak through the middle, and the traditional soft, smooth finish the house is known for.

How to Enjoy

The cocktail reposado of the range — a Margarita or Paloma with real oak underneath — though the producer pours it neat in a caballito as well. More reposados are in our tequila collection and across our spirits collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is Cazadores Reposado rested?
The producer gives a range rather than a fixed age: over two months and up to one year in new American oak barrels. Reposado as a class must rest at least two months, and Cazadores rests in new oak, which seasons the spirit faster than used barrels.

Is Cazadores Reposado 100% agave?
Yes — 100% Blue Weber agave from the Highlands of Jalisco, double distilled at NOM 1487 in Arandas.

What does Cazadores mean?
"The hunters." Don Jose Maria Banuelos named the brand for the hunters of the Arandas highlands, and the stag on the label comes from a stag seen in the agave fields.

Agave and new oak in the balance the 1922 recipe intended — order Cazadores Reposado Tequila online from Del Mesa Liquor, San Diego, CA.
