Auchentoshan, founded in 1823 on the banks of the Clyde, is the Glasgow malt that insists on full triple distillation — a lighter, purer spirit that then has to earn its weight in the cask. Three Wood is where it earns it: bourbon casks lay down the base, Oloroso sherry adds dried fruit and nuttiness, and a final rest in Pedro Ximénez casks brings the syrupy sweetness the whisky is named and loved for. Tasting Notes
Nose: Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin. Palate: Fruit and syrup — hazelnut with cinnamon and lemon, and a butterscotch sweetness from the sherry casks. Finish: Vibrant and fruity, smooth with long-lasting oaky sweetness; rich golden bronze in the glass.
