Angostura began with Dr. Johann Siegert's 1824 formulation in the town of Angostura, Venezuela, before production moved to Trinidad in the 1870s. For the 200th anniversary the house created a new, one-time recipe — not the classic Aromatic Bitters in commemorative packaging — built on an aged Angostura rum base with angelica root, Roman wormwood, nutmeg and other botanicals, first shipped in the US in September 2024.
