Aberlour 16 Year Scotch Whisky
Aberlour 16 Year Scotch Whisky is a 750mL single malt bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), double cask matured for sixteen years in a combination of American oak casks and Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts, the two matured side by side and married for bottling. The sherry butts exert the strongest influence in the house style — floral, raisin-rich and nutty over Aberlour's fruity Speyside distillate — at the distillery James Fleming founded in 1879 where the Lour burn joins the River Spey. The current bottling took Gold at the International Spirits Challenge 2024. It is available to order online at Del Mesa Liquor.

Sixteen Years in Bourbon Oak and Oloroso Butts
The 16 is the double-cask idea given time: American oak brings the soft, honeyed frame while the Oloroso butts — the influence Aberlour itself calls the strongest — layer raisin fruit and spicy nuttiness over sixteen years of parallel maturation. It is the range's sweet spot for sherry-cask drinkers who still want the distillery's floral fruit in front. Tasting Notes
Per the brand: a rich golden amber malt with a rich, scented floral nose, sweet raisin and spicy nuttiness; smooth and full on the palate — sweet floral and spicy notes, soft plum fruitiness and gentle oakiness; a long, warm, fruity finish with a little spice.
How to Enjoy
Neat or with a few drops of water; the double-cask balance makes it an after-dinner malt that needs no peat tolerance. More Speyside single malts are in our scotch whisky collection.
