1. Puerto Rico

2. Panama
Panama is an ideal location for warm weather, sunshine, and affordable accommodations. On the northwest coast of the Caribbean, the nine-island archipelago of Bocas del Toro is home to some of the best surfing and scuba diving in the world. Old Panama City's Spanish colonial buildings and orange-tiled roofs stand in stark contrast to the skyline of skyscrapers across the sea, and in Casco Viejo, after dark, music spills onto the streets from every alley and corner with atlas stalls everywhere for refreshments. During the day, you can explore the markets, enjoy coffee at Plaza Bolivar, and watch the sunset from just above Plaza Francia.
3. San Diego, California

5. Chiang Mai, Thailand
The touristy beach resorts in southern Thailand, such as Krabi and Phuket, are expensive, but if you travel north on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, you'll get not only a more authentic experience but also cheap accommodation and the chance to experience the region's stunning mountains, vibrant hill tribes, and laid-back atmosphere.
