////Pinhook Bourbon Country Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Pinhook Bourbon Country Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Every fall Pinhook releases a new bourbon and rye, each of which is connected to a promising young thoroughbred based in Kentucky. The whiskey in each release is the best expression of our barrels at that moment in time, and we blend and proof each release to be as unique as the horse on the label. The result is an annual vintage of Pinhook Bourbon and Pinhook Rye that become instant collectibles. And while it is impossible to know if the horse on the bottle will go all the way to the Kentucky Derby, there is no gamble on the quality of what’s inside.

Bourbon Country is the 8th release of bourbon from Pinhook. It’s been aged more than 3 years at Castle and Key Distillery in Millville, KY and was blended and proofed by Marianne Barnes and Sean Josephs.

Horse Racing & Bourbon — The Essence Of Kentucky.
Now Bottled.

Pinhooking is an old Southern term for the shrewd purchase of very young thoroughbreds. The best pinhookers are brilliant speculators, with powerful gut instincts honed by experience and a deep knowledge of lineage. Lovingly handcrafted and aged in Kentucky, Pinhook Straight Bourbon and Rye has in its DNA the richness of the soil, the warmth of goldenrod, the softness of the air and the character and manner of Kentucky horse country. We now run our operations out of the newly restored Castle and Key distillery in Millville, Kentucky. This 86 acre property on the Bourbon Trail was once the home of Old Colonel Taylor.

Our brand is based on authentically bringing together Kentucky’s two biggest exports: Thoroughbreds and Bourbon. Each bottle harnesses the spirit of the pinhook—a little daring based on profound understanding of quality—by being dedicated to an actual racehorse from Bourbon Lane Stable in Versailles, Kentucky, where successful yearly pinhooks are a way of life. Just as each release is blended and proofed by Sean Josephs and Marianne Barnes for the best expression possible, our horses are chosen on their lineage and potential.

Tasting Notes

A vibrant burst of ripe pear and baked apricot up front seamlessly give way to toffee, dates, and vanilla bean. A lingering and lifting finish of cinnamon, cedar, and peppercorn round out this complex, and exceptionally balanced expression.
