Bourbon + Maple Syrup Barrel-Aged Imperial Maple Stout with Walnuts
Maple farms are whirring to life as “sugaring weather” begins across the Northeast and syrup producers begin to tap into an ancient network of nature’s sweetest gift.
This micro-season marks a four to six week segment in early Spring when days become longer and warmer, reaching a high enough daytime temperature to melt some of the snowy ground cover, but maintaining below-freezing temperatures at night. Prolonged periods of below-freezing temperatures, days without freezing nights, or extended warm spells will stop the flow of maple sap, so the brief period of time where these weather requirements align is a season worth celebrating!
We’ve been phenomenally fortunate to have sourced drums of pristine maple syrup from Vermont’s Bascom Family Farms, which we used in the fermentation and finishing of this brand new Imperial Stout collaboration with Chicago’s Mikerphone Brewing.
